Canvas Cosmetics is a Kenyan beauty brand that creates makeup products for the independent, on-the-go woman.

Sonal saw a gap in the Kenyan beauty industry where women had to buy quality beauty products only when they travelled outside the country or resorted to sending someone to bring some. As a company, they have created liquid lipsticks, glosses, eye shadows, highlighters and facial mists.

What we appreciate about Sonal is her drive to deliver top-quality makeup. Canvas Cosmetics makeup is formulated in Italy and Hong Kong and is, more importantly, cruelty-free. It’s a great feeling to be able to find  good quality makeup that matches the African woman’s rich complexion locally.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Read More” link=”|||”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”2219″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” onclick=”custom_link” img_link_target=”_blank” link=””][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Hello! Interview with Sonal Haria, Co-Founder of Canvas Cosmetics

What is your assessment of the sector in Kenya? What are the latest trends? Is the market competitive?

Like a lot of industries in Kenya, beauty is up and coming. It is a fairly new and recent industry. With the growth of women entering the workforce more and social media, a lot of women are now earning independently resulting in a whole movement towards looking and feeling your best. Looking at independent brands in the Kenyan market, it has been around 10 years. It is not as competitive or as saturated as other areas like Europe, the Middle East, or America. There are few established brands, but very few, enough to count on one hand. There is still the need for a lot of good, independent brands to enter the industry. We are the third or fourth brand to enter. We are fairly new, quite fresh and young. We are not really centered around one personality, but we have come in as a whole brand. There are a lot of bloggers or well-known social media personalities that have gone on to start their own brands. There are other brands that have been well-established for ten years, but we find that they are not every agile on their feet in terms of keeping up with trends and what is going on internationally.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Read More” link=”|||”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
