Lip Scrubs

The trick to long lasting, beautiful lipstick is a good, healthy base. Flaky lips are the enemy of long lasting, flawless lipstick application!  Here are some super easy lip scrub recipes made with ingredients that you probably already have in your house. These DIY scrubs contain all natural ingredients because after all, anything that is going anywhere near your mouth and could potentially be ingested should be as natural as possible.

This scrub will leave your lips super soft, hydrated and ready to have you smack on your favourite Canvas Cosmetics lippy! This scrub also smells divine so it’s a win win if you ask me. Simply mix together 1-2 tablespoons of sugar (either brown or white is fine), 1 teaspoon of honey, 1 teaspoon of coconut oil and a few drops of lemon essential oil. Wet your lips, pat them dry, scrub your lips, wash it off and you’re good to go!

This is for the girls who love that tingly feeling you get from anything minty. I know I’m one of those people! This scrub will also give your lips a slight plumping effect. Mix 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1 ½ teaspoons of coconut oil a few drops of peppermint oil together (you can add any other essential oils you like) and you’re good to go! Just slap that bad boy on and scrub away.

The cinnamon lip scrub will make your lips appear fuller and more plump without any of the chemicals (and without the price tag) of store bought scrubs. Mix 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1 tablespoon coconut oil*, ½ teaspoon vitamin E oil.

There you have it! 3 super easy lip scrub ideas that every lipstick wearing woman should try out at least once! Thank me later J

*In all the recipes listed above, coconut oil has been used as the oil base. If you are not a fan, however, please feel free to sub this out with any other moisturising oil e.g. avocado or olive oil.
